BUSINESS ASSISTANT

Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated to the production of contemporary plays and musicals, seeks a full time Business Assistant. For thirty-five years, MTC has been the creative and artistic home for America’s most gifted theatrical artists, producing works of the highest quality by contemporary American and international playwrights. MTC produces seven plays annually in Broadway's recently restored Biltmore Theatre on West 47th Street and off-Broadway at the historic NY City Center complex on West 55 Street.th

This entry-level position is responsible for all Accounts Payable activity including entering invoices and printing checks, as well as some Accounts Receivable activity. In addition, the Business Assistant helps maintain the general ledger, produces weekly box office statements, updates monthly asset schedules and oversees the ordering of office supplies. The Business Assistant will also assume additional duties and projects in support of the Business Manager, Human Resources Manager and the Director of Finance.

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business required or a strong combination of equivalent experience and training. Proficiency with Microsoft Excel expected; experience with Great Plains Dynamics, ADP Payroll and/or Tessitura a plus.

MANAGER, INDIVIDUAL GIVING

Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated t o the production of contemporary plays and musicals, seeks a full time Individual Giving Manager. The manager is a key position in the Individual Giving area of MTC’s Development Department.

The Manager, Individual Giving serves as one of the primary contacts to MTC’s Patrons, assists in the planning and execution of the Individual Giving program and events and assists the Director of Individual Giving and Director of Development on special projects.

The manager coordinates the Patron renewal process, oversees the processing of incoming gifts and manages Telefunding reports and payroll. The manager also coordinates design of Patron materials, oversees staffing and supplies for Patron Lounges and assists in answering Patron Hotline calls.

The Manager, Individual Giving coordinates the Patron annual season kick-off event and assists in coordinating Patron Nights and other Major Donor events.

The ideal candidate will have: a bachelor’s degree; three to five years related experience; excellent writing ability and interpersonal skills; superior organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and strong computer skills (database experience with Tessitura a plus).

DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL GIVING

The Director of Institutional Giving leads the development and implementation of fundraising strategy in the areas of corporate, foundation and government funding. The director cultivates and solicits funding through compelling and comprehensive funding proposals and presentations. The director also works with the Director of Development, the Executive Producer, the MTC Board of Directors and other MTC staff to identify and research prospects.

The Director of Institutional Giving serves as liaison to MTC’s Education, Business and Artistic Development departments in the creation of integrated materials and oversees the production of the company’s annual report. In addition the director supervises a team of four (two managers, an associate and an intern).
