ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The Paul A. Kaplan Theatre Management Program at Manhattan Theatre Club
is a comprehensive, full-time and part-time internship program. If you are an undergraduate student, graduate student, recent college graduate or an early-career professional, you could be part of this fantastic program!

STIPEND INTERNS AT MTC:
• Work Monday through Friday from 10am-6pm
• Are provided a weekly stipend of $50 (though we are unable to provide housing assistance).
• Have their own desk, computer, phone and email account just like our full-time staff members.
• Are given intensive training as well as specific duties and projects in one department under the guidance of experienced supervisors.
• Attend full-staff meetings.
• Attend weekly educational seminars taught by MTC Department Heads and guests from the MTC extended creative family.
• Are assigned a mentor: a Staff Member from outside of their department to give them a fuller picture of how MTC works.

VOLUNTEER INTERNS AT MTC:
• Work up to 30 hours per week.
• Have their own desk, computer, phone and email account just like our full-time staff members.
• Are given intensive training as well as specific duties and projects in one department under the guidance of experienced supervisors.
• Attend full-staff meetings.
• Attend weekly educational seminars taught by MTC Department Heads and guests from the MTC extended creative family.
• Are assigned a mentor: a Staff Member from outside of their department to give them a fuller picture of how MTC works.

OTHER BENEFITS INCLUDE:
• Free tickets to all MTC productions
• Invitations to readings of new plays and exciting special events
• Free and discounted ticket offers to other Broadway and Off-Broadway performances

Stipend positions are funded in part by a generous endowment gift from The Rita J. and Stanley H. Kaplan Family Foundation, Inc.

TO APPLY

Before submitting your application, please look over our FAQ section for some helpful hints.

A complete application consists of the following:
1. An MTC application form (click here for application)
2. A cover letter indicating your three areas of interest
3. A resume including administrative and theatrical (if applicable) experience
4. Two letters of recommendation (employers, professors, etc.)

DEADLINES

  • Applications for the 2009 Fall Semester Internships must be received by Friday, July 10th, 2009 at 5pm.
  • Applications for the 2010 Winter/Spring Semester Internships must be received by Friday, November 13th, 2009 at 5 PM.
  • Applications for the 2010 Summer Internships must be received by Friday, March 12th, 2010 at 5 PM.

Please note this is a "received by" deadline, not a postmark deadline.

Applications submitted after the above deadlines are not typically considered.

INTERVIEWS
Once we have received your application our office will be in touch to confirm receipt of your materials, request additional information, and/or set-up an interview.

Please note that some departments require an in-person interview, though phone interviews can be arranged in most cases.

Interviews are conducted Monday though Friday from 10am - 6pm. We do not conduct interviews in the evenings or on the weekends.

Interviews begin approximately 7 days after the application deadline and continue for up to 2 months. Please keep this time period in mind when you are filling out your application.
